Abbas Hadjian, CFLS ( is a bi-lingual (Farsi & English) California Certified Family Law Specialist. Mr. Hadjian was born in Iran and studied law in Tehran and California. He obtained a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government.

Prior to immigration to California he was a professional Iranian journalist and Assistant to five (5) Governors of the Persian Gulf Province in Iran. He is the Founder and first President of Iranian Free University, Bandar Abbas, Iran. Mr. Hadjian became a member of the California State Bar in June 1988.

During the past 30 years, Mr. Hadjian has been an attorney and a legal analyst (live television and radio programs in Farsi). He is author of ADivorce in California@ a 400 page self-help book in Farsi, published in 2001. He is also a source of information and comparison between Iranian and California jurisprudence worldwide. Mr. Hadjian follows major changes in the Iranian law and procedures as they affect properties and personal relations. He keeps an updated library of Iranian civil and criminal codes and relevant legal publications in his office. He is in ongoing contact with the legal community in Iran.

In 2013, Mr. Hadjian=s research study on Islamic child custody and support (child and spousal) was published in the Los Angeles Lawyer Magazine. The article has been republished in September 2013 in the Family Law News (publication of the State Bar of California) and in November 2013, in the Website of International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, It became topic of his Plenary speech in April 2014 in the annual gathering of the association of Collaborative Practitioners in San Francisco.

In 2008, Mr. Hadjian co-founded Culture Counts (, an internet based educational center for cultural issues. Since then, Mr. Hadjian has lectured for many organizations including the California Administration of Courts (AOC), Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, (AFCC and AFCC-CA), the Southern California Family law American Inn of the Court (SCFLAIOC), the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers-California (AAML-CA) on cultural impact on the family practice. From 2013, Mr. Hadjian has organized day-long seminars on Cultural Competency in Family Practice, presented by the IALA and LACBA in the University of West Los Angeles (UWLA) . The Seminars are supported by many California Family Law organizations including the Association of Certified Family law Specialists (ACFLS).

Mr. Hadjian is a past-President of the Iranian American Lawyers Association (IALA). In September 2014, he was appointed as member of the California State Bar=s Executive Committee, Family Law Section by the Board of Trustees, State Bar of California (FLEXCOM). Mr. Hadjian was the Chair of the State Bar=s Family law Webinar Projects. He is currently a member of the Executive Committee, Family Law Section, Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA), and President of the Southern California Family Law American Inn of Court.

Mr. Hadjian's practice is limited to litigation of complicated Family Law issues and private mediation. Mr. Hadjian is also a qualified expert in Iranian Civil and Family Law and Procedure in California and Federal Courts.
